“Sustainability is not a matter of technology nor is it a single-issue idea. It is an attitude which views the interaction of whole systems… any thought that there is a code-like formula for sustainable development is a bureaucratic illusion.”
Vernon D. Swaback

To ensure economic growth, we will:

  • Create significant new jobs in Loreto
  • Enhance the local economy through responsible tourism development
  • Build a successful community that delivers a healthy rate of return to our investors, home owners and partners.

Creating jobs
Loreto Bay Company is developing a resort community of approximately 6,000 homes. In accordance with World Bank statistics it is estimated that this development will create approximately 4,500 permanent jobs (.75 jobs for every unit of housing built) and several thousand additional jobs during the ten to fifteen year course of construction. In support of local economic development, the Loreto Bay Foundation will provide micro-lending, job training and entrepreneurial training for local residents. As well, Loreto Bay Company is working closely with the Foundation to develop education programs to upgrade local skills in order to fill jobs being generated by the Loreto Bay project.

Tourism Development
Loreto Bay Company has put in place a strong tourism campaign to ensure the general public learns about the happenings in Loreto. The company has secured cooperative partnerships again this year with travel companies such as Alaska Airlines and AeroMexico and corporations like the Mexico Tourism Board, as well as adding a new partnership with the tourism division of Baja California Sur, which will combine brand advertising for Baja to include Cabo, La Paz and Loreto. Loreto Bay Company is working on partnerships for marketing and promotion with Clif Bar and Paragon Luggage.

The company has made great effort positioning Loreto as a top tourism destination. Tourism print advertisements have been put in publications such as Sportfishing, Outdoor Traveler and Sunset Magazine over the last year. A Mexican newspaper advertising campaign is working to impact occupancy at the Inn at Loreto Bay for spring and summer months. The company’s internet exposure continues to generate interest to Loreto.

Another heightened experience for Loreto’s exposure is a nationally televised PBS television show called Passport to Adventure that filmed a segment in Loreto.

As ads appear in magazines and on television, work is also progressing on the ground in Loreto.  The Inn at Loreto Bay and the Loreto Bay Vacations Program were both heavily represented at Tianguis Touristico 2006, the largest travel tradeshow in Mexico held in Acapulco.

A sustainable investment
At the Loreto Bay Company, we never lose sight of the fact that we are a business, and as such it is vital that we are a healthy and profitable enterprise.  Otherwise, we will not be sustainable, nor will we be a viable model for other companies to follow.  The Villages of Loreto Bay are being built by a team with years of experience and success both supervising and managing large residential and commercial real estate projects. We are working with the full cooperation of FONATUR (Mexico's National Trust for Tourism) and all levels of the Mexican government.  We look forward to a long and prosperous journey as a corporate leader.
