Our mission is to provide U.S. quality medical care for our community, despite its relative isolation and distance from major medical centers.

A commitment to wellness
The pristine beauty of this community, nestled amidst the desert, mountains and sea, is the ideal setting for a healing center. Our wellness philosophy will use a holistic approach to our residents’ health, incorporating the healing capabilities of our spas, along with meditation and naturopathy in a unique marriage of the concepts of traditional western medicine. Loreto Bay, a leader in sustainability, will be a center for healing and renewal of the body and mind.

Medical care
The Loreto Bay medical plan is physician-designed and is based on the customer-focused approach of quality healthcare management. In the earliest phase of town development, Loreto Bay will build an on-site medical clinic with the capability to diagnose and treat acute medical illness. For those patients who require higher levels of care, we will facilitate their transfer by air ambulance to a hospital in San Diego, California or Phoenix Arizona.

Loreto Bay Company’s Medical Director is Ken Markel, M.D. Dr. Markel is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine with more than twenty years practice experience in Canada and the U.S. He brings extensive practical administrative and academic experience to Loreto Bay.

Dr. Markel served as Program Director of Emergency Medicine at The Richmond Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was President of the British Columbia Section of Emergency Medicine and economics representative on the Council of Specialists. He has held senior positions in hospital accreditation and acted as Chairperson of Quality Improvement Committees.
