“You’ve got to be very careful if you don’t know where you are going, because you might not get there.”
– Yogi Berra

From the waters where blue whales feed to historic Missions hidden in the mountains, local tours are available to help you discover everything Loreto Bay has to offer. A complete listing of all tours is available in Loreto Bay Vacations, but here are just a few highlights of the tours that await.

The Missions
Historic Mission ToursThe first of the Missions of the Californias was founded in Loreto over 300 years ago and the Mission system spread throughout the peninsula and up along the coast as far north as San Francisco. Tour the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto, the spectacular Mission of San Javier or any of the other Missions in nearby towns to experience the history of the Baja peninsula.

Into the past
Travel the first Baja Mission road from Loreto to the tropical artists’ colony of Mulege, where you can spend the day sightseeing, relaxing, or delving into the area’s colorful history. In the mountains to the west of Mulege, you’ll find cave paintings left behind by the vanished Cochimi and Guaicura people who first settled Loreto over 10,000 years ago.

The deep blue sea
Watch whales from out on the water. The magical islands near Loreto frame a tropical marine park that, every year, is a nursery for thousands of blue whales. You can also see humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, turtles, grey whales and more on one of the many tours of the waters surrounding Loreto Bay.
